I would like to share with you a gift which expanded my heart and echoed deep down inside me. The gift of warm water therapy (WATSU therapy).
I first encountered WATSU during my B.Sc. in Marine Sciences. Being so used to the water medium, I didn't expect the profound effect it had on me. The attentiveness and support of the therapist brought me to a complete devotion. The inner peace achieved through hours of meditation happened so effortlessly in the silence and sanctity of the warm water, I couldn't believe it. From that day on I decided that I wanted to share this magic with others. In 2012, I became a Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (WABA) certified practitioner.
I've come a long way since, and I am still amazed by the wisdom that springs from the silence.
In my work, I incorporate all tools I have learnt over the years; aquatic therapy, therapeutic bodywork & shiatsu, breathing techniques, yoga & meditation, trauma-sensitive bodywork and spiritual wisdom to allow the patient a safe space to let go.
Everyone is welcome. People who seek relief from physical, mental, emotional or energetic concerns, people who desire a rest in the compassionate dimension of the water and people who wish to explore the power and quality of silence as a part of a learning process to living from the intrinsic wholeness.
ABOUT THE THERAPIST
Lee is a Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (WABA) certified practitioner, a hydrotherapist, a yoga teacher (certified as a trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator) and holds a PhD in Marine Science. She is one of four WATSU practitioners in Australia.
Water has always been a haven for me. A place for deep healing and quiet observation. As a sensitive child, I experienced a whole world of spirit and awareness, but since my inner world never received acknowledgement from the adults that surrounded me, I felt that I must keep it all to myself. I would sit for hours on the beach longing for something I thought to be found over the sea. As I grew up, I went on many journeys around the world. I have travelled for years, surrendering to the desire to wander. I have dived many seas, climbed many mountains and walked far, as far as I could. Eventually, the mystical power of the water, and the deep love and respect I have for the sea drew me to the study of marine biology. I thought then that I would explore the oceans, dive into great depths and continue to roam the world. I thought that if I kept the inner flame to myself it would suffice. And for a while, it did. I was researching corals around the globe, was amazed at the beauty and authenticity of nature and was thrilled with the freedom I was given. But over time, something inside me started to break. I felt like I was travelling too far, to reach inward. Even at sixty meters below sea level, it was impossible to escape that inner gravity. I knew my heart wanted to return home to the deepest wisdom within. To the simplest form of love. I practiced yoga, meditation, free-diving, and learned spiritual teachings of many kinds. I combined all these to distil my journey within but was still afraid to share my innermost being, lest I remain alone in the journey once again. And then one day I got to the pool, to get a WATSU session. There were no corals and dolphins, no colourful ceremonies or foreign languages, no waves, no storms and no poetic words. There was only a deep silence. A vast void of therapeutic magic. The warmth of the water and the attentive support of the therapist brought me to complete relaxation. I felt as if I have come home. Today, I am a WATSU practitioner myself and am honoured to deliver this experience to anyone whose heart desires it.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there”
The WATSU therapy sessions are offered at two locations:
the beautiful tranquil hydrotherapy pool at Newmarket (link) and the chlorine-free mineral pool at Ascot (link).
The pools are heated to 34 degrees celsius, allowing an immediate relaxation of the body.
Each session lasts for an hour, of which 45 minutes are devoted to buoyancy in the water.
All sessions are offered when the pool is mostly quiet (exclusivity is not guaranteed), including weekends.
Highly recommended: Private pool sessions are available at an extra cost of $50 per hour.
There are showers and dressing facilities in the pool area.
Experience the healing power of the water and benefit from the quiet meditative stillness and expansion of consciousness it can induce. Allow your mind and body to set free in ways impossible on land.

WATSU FOR PREGNANCY
Having spent three pregnancies myself in the water, I am aware of the benefits of floating weightlessly in warm water while being gently held and guided into movements that stretch and relieve you. This treatment is recommended from the beginning of the second trimester and is especially beneficial for prenatal moms who have body aches, sleepless nights, leg cramps and backaches.
I have had profound experiences during my WATSU sessions with Lee. It feels like we enter a compassionate bubble of warm water, where a wordless conversation happens. Just going inwards, through floating, stretches and specific movements, it is safe to let go of pain, stress, and tension. Lee intuitively and gently guides this dance of unfurling and I feel very connected and safe in her hands. By the end, I often feel myself like a young child, I don't know how else to describe it, like being cradled and truly held. It is a profound and sacred feeling, of freedom and wholeness. I am so grateful for having found Lee. Afterwards, I noticed a reduction in pain, reduced mental stress and my sleep improved after months of struggling. I am better able to focus at work and feel more embodied. With her skills and healing presence, Lee guides and allows the body and mind to settle and come into one’s essence. Since discovering WATSU, I attend regularly, because it nourishes me and helps me return to my truest self. I highly recommend this unique and sensitive treatment for anyone who wants a holistic approach to healing.
Meeray Ghaly, Brisbane
During these past months, I have been transitioning through a challenging passage of personal change and crisis. Something intuitive ushered me towards Watsu. I had a session about 20 years ago and it began calling me back. Working with Lee has been so very deeply profoundly nourishing, soothing, healing and supportive for me. She has such a tangible stillness and presence and holds a very solid trustworthy container. Lee has listened to my stories with understanding and care. She has also nurtured me beneath the stories into a deep silent place where my body gets to unwind, rest and reset. Booking regular water healing sessions with Lee is one of the most loving things I have ever done for myself, and I totally and thoroughly recommend her services.
I can’t remember the last time I checked in with my body and it wasn’t tense. My nervous system has been in fight or flight mode by default for so long. Rewiring it to feel safe is at the bottom of so many of my health problems. When I discovered Lee combining movement, acupressure, and shiatsu in warm water, I felt relief for the first time in years. I felt surprisingly energized after as if my nervous system had finally been given a break. It takes a very healing, gentle but strong spirit to make someone feel safe in such an environment and I trusted Lee the moment we got in the water. I’m so excited to have found her and look forward to taking this feeling of safety back into life outside the water.
